What is a good food cost percentage?+
In-store, healthy is roughly 25–33%. Above 38% is dangerous. Delivery can run higher because platform commission eats into your margin, so up to about 39.5% is still healthy there.
Why is the delivery food cost higher?+
Delivery platforms take 25–35% commission on each order. That's deducted before you pay for ingredients, so the same dish keeps less profit on delivery than in-store. Pricing delivery higher is how operators protect margin.
Should I include VAT?+
Yes if you're VAT registered. VAT isn't your money, so we strip it out first to show the real net selling price your margin is calculated from.
